We're trying something new and for anyone interested, will hold a short-term 'book club' to discuss 'Peak Performance' by Brad Stuhlman and Steve Magness.  We'll meet for three consecutive weeks to discuss, breaking the book up into three sections.  Don't worry if you can't make them all.  Options for obtaining the book include libraries, and Barnes and Noble.

The book isn't necessarily sport specific, but the concepts do apply to sports - how to get to peak performance and avoid burnout.  Topics covered include stress, (when it's good and when it's not), learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, rest (mentally and physically)/recovery/sleep (two chapters on these related topics), developing your own pre-event routine.  It is very much based in science, yet also very readable, with examples from real people, and short summaries throughout each chapter on the key points.  Don't think this doesn't apply to you - it's application ranges from every day, to major events.  One example is how our dependence on our phones distracts us and can keep us from reaching our goals.
